Planning
The plan is that we will leave DC on Friday morning, arriving in LA around 3pm. We'll visit with family and friends, and take off on Asiana Airlines a little after midnight on Sunday (or, I guess that's Monday). Between a very long layover in Seoul/Inchon, and crossing the International Date Line, we won't arrive at Kansai Airport until nearly noon on Tuesday. Then, we plan to spend a week in Kyoto, a little less than a week in Tokyo, and one night in Osaka, leaving Japan on Monday, June 16. After a quick overnight debriefing in LA, we expect to return home in the wee hours of Wednesday, June 18.
In the past few weeks, Glen made a chart
of all the things that we might want to do while we are in Japan. Then, he made a calendar with places to write in the plan for every morning, afternoon, and evening of the trip. A few nights ago, we started to put temples, castles, museums, and other interesting places into the various time slots. Today, we've been erasing and re-writing and re-arranging, trying to fit a month's worth of sightseeing into just two weeks.
